Some cute polypoid colonies (hydrozoa) i’d like to share. I’m sorry about the bad quality, these were taken on my phone, and it’s camera sucks. :(
Species is Ectopleura warreni (also known as Tubularia crocea), higher classification: Cnidaria->Medusozoa->Hydrozoa->Antothecatheae.
These small things along the axial skeleton (the branch looking things) are protozoaries (those small white ball-shaped things), and it’s an ecological association. The flower-shape like things are the polips (or zooids), and they have tentacles! They are super cute moving to capture it’s prey! (am I weird to find this cute?)
Pictures taken in about 30x zoom. The colonies are small, and the zooids are about ~1mm.
